.hg directory has eclipsed 3GB - how to deal with huge manifest?

Unfortunately the problem file is the 00manifest.d and its 2GB size.

Looking in the .hg/store/data directory doesn't yield any clues, but would
also like to get this thing trimmed as well since it is 1GB.

Thanks for the suggestions - please let me know if you can think of anything
else.
