I just gave it a test run and it worked as expected. FTR I did

- clone attic repo from bitbucket.
- point ~/.hgrc to attic.py
- create a test repo, did a commit
- change file, shelve
- change file shelve
- unshelve original change
- dispay patches in queue

worked as advertised.
