Any idea of reasonable kdiff3 replacement (ubuntu removed kdiff3)

Unpleasant surprise after I upgraded Ubuntu to 8.10 - kdiff3 is gone
(as a victim of upgrade to KDE4). I tried compiling it myself and "stable"
version refuses to compile while svn version crashes while starting (maybe
some my mistake but I have no idea what to change). 
So, in short, Ubuntu 8.10 = no kdiff3.

Mercurial pops up meld which is undocumented (at least with respect to
3-way merge) and unintuitive.

Any suggestions, ideas, hints?
