convert: filemap: How to remap files into a subdir

Hi, 

I tried to join multiple repositories with the convert extension like the 
following: 

hg convert --filemap filemap SOURCE TARGET

with the filemap containing the following: 

--- filemap ---
rename . subdir
--- /filemap ---

but this didn't work for me. 

How can I rename all files in the top-level directory to be located in a 
subdirectory?
