problems theming hgwebdir.cgi

hi,

I'm trying to integrate hg into our website layout, but are having
problems.

 First, can I make hgwebdir.cgi search non-default directories for
tempaltes and static files?  Currently, I have symlinks from the
global directory (/usr/share/mercurial/templates on Debian Linux) to
my private directories, but that is a bit awkward.

  Second, and more important, how do I get a common page header on all
pages (at the beginning of the <body> tag)?  I tried to define a
page_header template, but it seems that non-standard template tags are
not supported.  Any other ideas?
