path environment variables and ssh

NOTE: This comment seems to imply that "PermitUserEnvironment" is 
probably on by DEFAULT in your sshd. So, things may work without 
tweaking your sshd_config.

(remember that this environment stuff applies to the REMOTE machine, not 
the local machine)
