I've no opinion about branches as I do not use them for now (perhaps
because associated behavior doesn't look clear enough to me).

Anyway, Issue 438 is open for more than a year now, and is still
occasionally bit us : http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/bts/issue438
I'd like to see it fixed before 1.0... (I know Thomas hadn't fixed his
mind about it however)
