It will grow a bit larger that way - enough to make it worth just doing it in 
a python test framework :) 

I only chose shell script, since I just copied my shell commands over :)

I sent the test to Alexandre Vassalotti, the Mercurial chamion, but sending it 
to Brett should be useful, too. 

But I'd rather first rewrite the test to use a small testing framework in 
python (I once wrote one for git and hg, and I'd like to reuse parts of that - 
and maybe take the chance to clean it up a bit).
