help setting up hgwebdir.cgi on shared server

Hi,

I work on an XP system, but would like to be able to push and pull
using hg from my shared Linux server, as well as setup hgwebdir.cgi.

I read through the step-by-step directions, and some other material,
but can't figure out how to get this working, because I am not sure
what to put in the config file, or even where the files go, or what
the URL would be with it.

I'm a bit confused if I can even use hgwebdir.cgi on a server where I
do not have ssh.

Basically, I want to setup a directory like:

 /home/berrysof/public_html/hg

which then contains different repositories in their own
sub-directories.  Then maybe setup where I could redirect
http://hg.berrysoft.net to http://berrysoft.net/hg/hgwebdir.cgi.

Can anyone point me to clear step-by-step directions for setup on a
shared Linux server?
