Oh my god. I must have been seriously decaffeinated.

I somehow mixed up Nautilus with Tortoise. I meant to say why is GNOME
specific application work more broadly useful than TortoiseHg work,
but even that makes no sense in the context of what you originally
wrote. Sorry for making such an ass of myself.
