Agreed. You can try running "sudo fs_usage -w" to catch the creation  
of these files. Start that up in one shell, then in another run the  
'hg' command that causes the files to be created, then stop fs_usage  
and search the output for ".rsrc". Hopefully the identity of the  
creating process, or the other file operations nearby, can help  
explain what's happening.
