sub-module support

Darcs - not much Open Source traction, I think because of haskel
Bazaar - atleast based on performance numbers not up to mercurial, plus
we like open source, allows me to customize and contribute. 
Monotone - again based on performance. Plus mainly because I see better
traction/adoption with Mercurial. And most importantly, I hear its much
cleaner code, which is important if we need to be able extend it.

     Hm, 'obviously'? IMHO, Monotone, Bazaar and Darcs are 
     worth a look too.
     (Though I personally have settled on Mercurial.)
