I had a similar idea in February. It would be nice to have a non-forgeable "revision-created-by". http://marc.info/?l=mercurial&m=117030690804513&w=2 (or "all crypto all the time".)

I have a friend who needs any system he uses to support authentication 
with PKCS11 certificates and smartcards, but that would be a different 
feature than signatures in the revision.
