[Feature request] Automatic ChangeLog?

Arch/tla/baz have a wonderfully useful feature: automatic generation of
ChangeLogs based on commit messages... Do you think it could be possible to
have it?  

Example of a merge from a remote repo (when you do a merge like this, the
"log-for-merge command generates the "Patches applied" bit that you can paste
in the commit message):
